Kate R. Dewey:

For more than forty years, Kate has consulted with various nonprofit organizations, foundations, public agencies, elected officials, and corporations at the local, state, and national levels. Her core competencies are social innovation, strategy development, organizational readiness support, and restructuring.
Kate currently serves as Senior Advisor for Dentons Cohen & Grigsby (formerly Cohen & Grigsby) where she has led the creation of an integrated nonprofit practice that joins legal, strategic development, and government affairs services. Before that, she was the President of The Forbes Funds, which focuses on nonprofit capacity building. During her tenure, the organization launched UpPrize: BNY Mellon Social Innovation Competition, which has invested over $2.5 million in technology tools and products to improve nonprofit efficiency or the quality of life of underserved populations.
In 1991 Kate co-founded Dewey & Kaye, Inc., the fifth oldest consulting practice in the United States, providing strategic management and formulation services to nonprofit organizations, foundations, and government agencies. Additional experience includes being the founding Executive Director of Grantmakers of Western Pennsylvania, an association dedicated to promoting effective philanthropy, Principal in Semerad Associates of Washington, D.C., a consulting firm specializing in governmental affairs, planning, and development services for nonprofits, school-to-work policy formulation, and public/private ventures.
